This limited-production Cabernet Sauvignon blend represents the best of ALTA’s winemaking. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were grown on our ATLAS Peak estate vineyard. The remaining grapes in the blend were grown at Sugarloaf Mountain vineyards in South Napa. All grapes were harvested within 10 days of each other. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot were co-fermented with native yeast in an open-top tank. The total maceration time was 35 days before barreling down to 60% new French Oaks barrels for aging. The wine was aged for 28 months and then bottled.
This is a sublime medium body Meritage and at the moment, it is at its peak. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are the backbones of the wine, bringing rich texture and supple tannins along with beautiful floral notes and dark ripe berry aromas. This bold and delicious wine is exceptionally complex and full of structure. It has aged well and will continue to do so for another 2-3 years.
