2016 Alta Napa Valley “Oso Malo” Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points – Blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Oso Malo opens with earthy notions of tar, black soil, truffles and tree bark over a core of cassis and baked blackberries with touches of beef drippings and wood smoke. The palate is medium to full-bodied with plenty of juicy black fruit and earth-inspired flavors framed by chewy tannins, finishing on a peppery note.

92 points – There’s a freshness to the blueberry and cassis aromas with gently spicy and tarry complexity. The palate delivers a very resolved and seamless core of ripe plums, blueberries and cassis. Full-bodied and fresh. Let this settle in, hold for 3-4 years.

91 points – The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Oso Malo (92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc aged 30 months in in 70% new oak) offers more purity and elegance as well as a beautiful array of crème de cassis, black cherries, and blueberries mixed with lead pencil and floral notes. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured, and concentrated, it has terrific purity as well as building, fine tannins. It will keep for 10-15 years.

2016 Alta Napa Valley Revival Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points – Ripe plum and mulberry aromas in a fresh, fully ripe style. The palate has an assertive, dense fruit core with plum and raisin flavors framed in rich, ripe tannins. Drink or hold.

89 points – A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot and 5% Petite Verdot, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Revival is deep purple-black in color and delivers notions of sautéed herbs, scorched earth and charcuterie with a core of black cherry compote and crushed black currants plus a waft of garrigue. Medium to full-bodied with a chewy backbone supporting the herb-laced flavors, it finishes minty.

2016 Alta Napa Valley “Quatreaux” Red Wine Blend

92 points – A very ripe, plush and dense blend of 33% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot, that has a core of blueberry and cassis fruit aromas and flavors. Finishes with rich tannin presence and roasted coffee oak. Right at the limit of ripeness. Drink or hold.

88 points – The 2016 Proprietary Red Blend Quatreaux is a blend of 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petite Verdot. It has a deep purple-black color and features wild blueberries and black raspberries with hints of kirsch, dried roses and stewed tea plus a waft of bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied, it has plenty of juicy black berry and earthy flavors with a chewy texture and an herbal lift on the finish.

2016 Alta Napa Valley Carneros Pinot Noir

90 points – A barrel sample, the 2016 Pinot Noir has a pale to medium ruby-purple color and expressive nose of black cherries, mulberries and black raspberries with touches of violets and cinnamon stick, plus a waft of underbrush. Medium to full-bodied, the ripe, vibrant cherry flavors fill the palate, framed by satiny tannins and a racy acid line, finishing long and tangy.

2017 Alta Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc

89 points – The 2017 Sauvignon Blanc offers notions of Granny Smith apples, lemonade and wet pebbles with a touch of white pepper. Medium-bodied, lively and vibrant, it has nice purity and makes for a refreshing quaffer.

89 points – The 2017 Sauvignon Blanc (there’s 30% of the Musque clone of Sauvignon Blanc) is a juicy, delicious white that has plenty of lemon and honeyed citrus/tropical fruits, medium-bodied, juicy acidity, and a clean, balanced style. It will be a delicious meal starter over the coming year.
